January 2023 Newsletter

January... News, Events and What We are Reading!

Adieu to ’22…and Wait ‘til you see ’23!

Cheers, health and happiness to everyone in the New Year. And thanks to all of you who shopped with us this holiday season. It really does make a difference when you shop local and support small, independent businesses. I’m going to keep my intro short this month and offer up the following “Annual Report” – a recap of our accomplishments this past year with a few highlights of what promises to be an exciting, new chapter. This is the Newsletter of Lists, because I’ve also included a list of The 22 Best Books of ’22 based on our staff favorites.

Since 1997 Tappan Wilder has served as the literary executor for his uncle Thornton Wilder, the celebrated author of Our Town, The Bridge of San Luis Rey and many more internationally known prize-winning  plays and novels.

What has it been like managing Thornton Wilder’s intellectual property?  What was his uncle and HIS Wilder family like? Drawing on readings by local actors, images and recording clips, Sausalito resident Tappan Wildern paints a brilliant picture of the man he knew as “Uncle Thorny”.

The event is free to attend, but please register in advance at EVENTBRITE.

Unless otherwise indicated all events are open to the public and there is no charge to attend.

Winter Wines

I love a good white wine, but with the winter weather that has descended – endless rain, grey days, cloudy vistas and stormy nights – a hearty, smooth red wine is a warming welcome. Our Malbec from the famous Malbec region of Mendoza in Argentina is a terrific value, and as good as any Malbec I had in Argentina. A flavorful, smooth, drinkable wine. The Austin Pope Cabernet from Paso Robles is also a great value for a great wine.
